At St. Luke’s Cataract & Laser Institute, Dr. Hartwig provides comprehensive eye examinations and participates in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of ocular diseases and visual conditions. Her clinical interests include dry eye disease, glaucoma, and myopia management
Dr. Hartwig earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, with minors in Nutrition and Exercise Science, from D’Youville University in Buffalo, New York. She then completed her Bachelor of Science in Vision Science and Doctor of Optometry degree at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, graduating summa cum laude at the top of her class. While in optometry school, she completed an additional Honors Program focused on clinical case studies, case analysis, and research presentations. She was also inducted into Beta Sigma Kappa (BSK), the international optometric honor society recognizing academic excellence and professionalism.
During her optometric training, Dr. Hartwig gained extensive experience in primary medical eye care, glaucoma management, dry eye treatment, and refractive surgery co-management. She completed clinical rotations at St. Luke’s Cataract & Laser Institute, Bay Pines VA Healthcare System, and other specialty eye care centers throughout Florida and South Carolina.
Dr. Hartwig was actively involved in Student Volunteers in Optometric Service to Humanity (SVOSH), serving on the organization’s leadership board throughout optometry school. In 2024, she coordinated and participated in a mission trip to Costa Rica, providing vision screenings and eye care services to underserved communities.
Originally from Buffalo, New York, Dr. Hartwig enjoys staying active through walking, running, working out, and playing pickleball. She also enjoys baking, arts and crafts, and spending time with family and friends. One of her favorite fun facts is that she has an identical twin sister.
