EVO ICL: Advanced Vision Correction at St. Luke's Cataract and Laser Institute

Are you tired of depending on glasses or contact lenses and/or you are not a candidate for LASIK or PRK? The EVO Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) offers a revolutionary solution for vision correction that’s both safe and effective. Dr. Brandon Rodriguez and our experienced team at St. Luke’s Cataract and Laser Institute are proud to offer this FDA-approved technology to help you achieve the clear vision you deserve.

What is EVO ICL?

The EVO ICL is an advanced implantable contact lens that works with your eye’s natural lens to provide crystal-clear vision. Unlike traditional contact lenses that sit on the surface of your eye, the EVO ICL is gently placed inside your eye where it’s completely invisible and maintenance-free.

Think of it as a permanent contact lens that you’ll never feel, never need to clean, and never need to replace. The lens is made up of Collamer, a biocompatible material that works naturally with your eye.

Am I A Candidate for EVO ICL?

EVO ICL may be right for you if:

  • Age: You’re between 21 and 45 years old.
  • Prescription: You have moderate to high nearsightedness (-3.0 to -20.0 diopters), which may not be suitable for LASIK.
  • Astigmatism: You have astigmatism between 1.0 to 4.0 diopters (EVO TORIC ICL).
  • Stable vision: Your prescription hasn’t changed significantly in the past year.
  • Healthy eyes: You have no active eye diseases.
  • Realistic expectations: You understand the benefits and potential risks.

The EVO ICL Procedure with Dr. Brandon Rodriguez

Dr. Rodriguez brings extensive expertise in refractive surgery to ensure your EVO ICL procedure is performed with precision and care.

Before Surgery
You can expect to undergo a comprehensive medical eye examination to assess your overall eye health and suitability for the procedure. Dr. Rodriguez will also take precise measurements of your eyes to ensure the most accurate and effective surgical planning. A detailed discussion will follow, where you’ll talk about your vision goals and expectations, helping tailor the procedure to your needs.
During Surgery
The procedure itself is typically quick, taking less than 30 minutes for both eyes. To keep you comfortable throughout, local anesthesia is administered. During the procedure, the surgeon makes a tiny incision through which the implantable lens is carefully folded and inserted. Once inside the eye, the lens unfolds naturally and settles into place behind the iris. Remarkably, no stitches are required, as the small incision is self-sealing and heals on its own.
After Surgery
After the procedure, most patients notice an improvement in their vision almost immediately. You'll spend a short period resting in our recovery area before being discharged. To ensure your eyes are healing properly, you’ll have follow-up appointments with Dr. Rodriguez. Most patients are able to return to their normal daily activities within just a few days.

Benefits of EVO ICL

Immediate Results

Many patients experience clearer vision right after the procedure, with continued improvement over the following days.

The EVO ICL is designed to remain in your eye permanently, providing stable vision correction for years to come.

Unlike LASIK or PRK, the EVO ICL can be removed or replaced if your vision changes or if you experience any issues.

Once healed, you won’t feel the lens in your eye. It’s completely undetectable to you and others.

Many patients report excellent night vision and reduced glare compared to their previous glasses or contacts.

Perfect for sports, swimming, and outdoor activities without the worry of losing contacts or breaking glasses.
