Do you find yourself frequently asking people to repeat themselves? Perhaps you can hear people talking but just don't understand the words? Or, maybe, you have more difficulty hearing what others are saying in noisy places or over the telephone? These are just a few of the symptoms of hearing loss. According to the Mayo Clinic, gradual hearing loss affects around one-quarter of American men and women aged 65 to 75. Unfortunately, it often goes undiagnosed and untreated. The fact is that many people postpone testing for the simple reason that they are unaware that receiving treatment for hearing loss can greatly improve their quality of life. At St. Luke's Cataract and Laser Institute, we have helped thousands of individuals see more clearly through cataract surgery and Intraocular Lenses (IOLs). Now, we are pleased to be able to help our patients hear more clearly, too! We offer testing and treatments, including state-of-the-art hearing aids, for those experiencing symptoms of hearing loss in the Tampa Bay area.
A reputation for excellence is not built in a day. Since 1974, patients have trusted Dr. James Gills to provide them with the high-quality cataract treatments that they need at prices that they can afford. Over time, Dr. Gills has expanded his practice to include retina surgery, refractive surgery, and a wide range of cosmetic procedures in order to meet the needs of his patients. Realizing the correlation between vision loss and hearing loss in older patients, Dr. Gills saw the need to introduce hearing services at St. Luke's. Our hearing services department is led by Kristen Decelles, Au.D., a board certified audiologist. Dr. Decelles specializes in servicing the adult population with hearing related disorders. The hearing team is also comprised of hearing instrument specialists; Jack Slavin, Jeff Caine, and Rhonda Kuhle. Together we are able to provide the upmost expertise in hearing healthcare.
As the name of our program suggests, the services we provide are all-inclusive. From diagnostic hearing loss testing to our extensive selection of state-of-the-art hearing aids, St. Luke's offers first-rate care and hearing solutions at affordable prices. Our flexible payment options make financing the cost of care simple.
The hearing aids that we offer are digital and completely programmable. This means that sound quality is clearer and more natural and can be precisely adjusted to your needs, even if they change over time. If you have put off treatment for hearing loss because of the awkward look and feel of hearing aids, you will be pleasantly surprised at our selection. Our new modern designs are virtually invisible and so comfortable you may even forget that you are wearing one!
"I want to thank you for helping me so greatly with my hearing problem. I am hearing far better than I have for many years."
"Since my hearing test at St. Luke’s and your fitting me with hearing aids, life has been very different for me. I can easily visit with people in group settings. Going to a restaurant is so much more pleasant since now I can hear those with me and the background noise is very muted."
"When I went to church I noticed a big difference in the sound of the music. It was no longer just noise."
"When I ride in a car with several people talking, I can still hear and enter into the conversation."
"Thank you for so wonderfully improving my quality of life. I am a most pleased patient."
"Well, I won’t say your hearing aid staff and service were perfect, but, yeah I will say it. They were!"
"I went in for my evaluation/test on a Tuesday and walked out Friday with my new hearing and a brand new life."
"Most of all my wife is happy. She cannot complain anymore about my not hearing her, 'forgetting' important things she thought she had told me, griping about the TV or stereo being on full blast, having to repeat two or three times seemingly clear statements, and so on."
"Thank you for the really great work you do. Not only are you an expert in your field, you have a great compassionate heart and delightful personality."
"I’m absolutely delighted with my hearing aids. Thank you for making them affordable."
"Thank you for your gentle touch and expertise in your work."
"I am delighted to hear so many sounds long forgotten. Thank you again. Blessings on you in abundance."
If you ansered yes to three or more questions, you may be experiencing symptoms of hearing loss.
