Psalm 36:9 "For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light."

Gary Carter THM, is an Assistant to Dr. Gills as well as the pastor of Tampa Reformed Baptist Church.

here are two realms to reality: the spiritual-invisible and the tangible-physical.

The tangible-physical realm is all that we can see and touch such as people and trees, etc. The spiritual-invisible realm includes all that we cannot see such as God, good and evil angels, souls of men.

The invisible is just as real as the visible.   However, the visible realm is dependent upon the invisible for its existence because God created and sustains it.  In the scheme of things, the invisible is the most important because the external is temporary, and the invisible goes on forever (2 Corinthians 4:18).

We should note how we intersect both realms with our bodies and souls intimately joined together.  Our souls, minds, thoughts and motives are of the invisible realm, but our senses come from our bodies.

Perhaps these thoughts will give us a greater respect for faith.  Faith is not an "airy nothing" based on vain wishes.   Faith is the soul resting upon the great, glorious invisible supreme Being and King- the Living God.  No wonder God is called a rock.  He is infinitely more substantial and dependable than the entire creation that He has made (Psalms 18:1-3).

Through the Bible, we learn about God's will and ways for our souls.  It teaches us that sin is when a soul chooses its own will over that of God's.  In regeneration, or a "new birth," our souls are brought into union with God.  The Holy Spirit dwells in us and gives us new desires.

The greatest example of the intersection between the spiritual and tangible is God's own Son.  He takes on humanity in the incarnation of the Lord Jesus.  He dies so that the sins of man may be forgiven and He rises from the dead.  Because of this we can be brought back to God by repenting of our sins and believing in Him.  We must embrace Him as our Savior and Lord.   We will then find the joy of living in the spiritual realm.
