saiah 55:1-2, "Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters. And, you
who have no money, come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and
without price. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does
not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight
itself in abundance."
We tend to expend and exhaust ourselves for
things, and crave things, that do not satisfy. Here the Gospel offer calls us to come to
God and let Him be our feast and our portion. It begins with the surprising word
"Ho" which means "Wait! Stop! Hold on there! Where are you going? Turn
around! Come back here! This is where you need to be. This is what will help you. This is
what will satisfy you." It's this energetic call of God welcoming the dissatisfied
heart to come to Him for true satisfaction. |
