Dr. Maria Loulourgas is a residency-trained, board-certified, optometric physician specializing in primary medical eyecare. She diagnoses and treats
diseases of the eye, visual system and eye-related systemic
conditions. Her services include: general eye
care, treatment of infection and injury, cataract and
vitreo-retinal evaluations, glaucoma evaluations and
treatment, and LASIK co-management. Dr. Loulourgas also specializes in contacts with an
emphasis on multifocal and toric lenses to better serve our
patients.
Dr. Loulourgas studied biology at the University of South Florida in Tampa, and received her Doctorate of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Ft. Lauderdale. She completed an externship in primary care at Bascolm Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, and an ocular disease residency in Philadelphia at The Eye Institute of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Prior to joining the St. Luke's team, Dr. Loulourgas practiced in a multi-specialty eye center.
An accomplished pianist, Dr. Loulourgas also enjoys singing, jogging and water sports. She enjoys children and participates in the annual "Great American Teach In" each year.
Dr. Loulourgas speaks fluent Greek, medical Spanish, and resides with her husband Philip and
son Demetre, in Palm Harbor.
