James P. Gills, founder and director of St. Luke's Cataract and Laser Institue in Tarpon Springs, was the recipient of the Duke Medical Alumni Association's 2005 Humanitarian Award.  The presentation was made at the 75th anniversary celebration dinner and alumni awards ceremony on October 28th in Durham, NC.  This award has only been presented to 10 individuals in the history of the university.
